at's up with Macao and Macau? Simply the former one is Portugese. Visiting Macau was to fulfill my "destiny" of Live2Travel. It was't much of a business that brought me here, though talking with the local distributor allowing me to know macao in a broader way.
With about 400k+ in population, it is limited for any business to expand. Good thing is the city will not frequently jammed with vehicles even in wee hours and those interesting places are accessible within walking distance. I prefer walking than taking a free shuttle bus services which will carry you along major hotels. Streets walking will reveal the city itself. It is more personal experience while exploring in my favourite sneakers! And in this trip, I have made two day of 6hrs+ each by walking and resting and walking again. Starting from Landmarks htl (where Pharaoh Casino is), military club, Chinese Library(°Ë½ÇˆD•øð^ - smallest library with a hexagon table filled by local residents who are reading newspaper!), backstreet of Rua do Campo, Tap Seac Square(where nice nostalgic colonial buildings with "tap" road displays). A lightheart walk in the past.) then Lou Lim Lok Garden (not-so big garden with the most trees I have seen since started walking from htl), then alley of Rua de Fernao Merdes Rinto(local flea market sells daily needs and it is interesting!) and finally hits Red Market(fishery & poultry wet market). A walk will deepen your understanding of how local runs its living. Being a rogue travelers, I have learned to mingle arround with locals. And o'coz that will include eat what local serves, a delicious roast dove. The more I travel, the closer I will become a world citizen! Afterall, we are are not that different either.
From Red Market, I have walked passed Avenida do Almirante Lacerda, Rua de Joao de Araujo and Ruo da Eng(local furniture and hardware shops), meets Fire Dept Museum and visitors ultimate destination - the famous Ruins of St. Paul. That was the only place that visitors converge. Along stretch of Ruo de S,. Paul, visitors are swamping in from all directions. Follow this path will lead you to Senado Square, it was nontheless a light moment to be juz being there. The well preserved european style facades blends in harmony with eastern cultures. I enjoyed the coffee recess in one of the cafe where it overlooks the fountain. People just like water!
Interestingly, macao turns from her shy face into a bewildering and enchanting city when night falls. Millions of bulds/leds lites up the night in greeting visitors("gamblers"!) in its uniquely showcase! Among all, the Grand Lisboa graps the most attention. It deserves the iconic impression even in the day light cityscape. With current momentum, Macao will stood up unquestionablely in its Eastern Las Vegas name. ++Use wherever possible on MOP rather than HKD or RMB, you will save for a few meals in one trip due to exchange rate.
